Diesel Tuning
Modern turbo diesel engines are controlled by an ECU which looks after the timing of the engine, the control of the fuel, the turbo boost, plus any other action that helps the engine to work as efficiently as it can. Manufacturers tend to set the characteristics of the engine in the factory but the ECU can actually be remapped as an aftermarket process. Tuning specialists can carry out Diesel Tuning on the vast majority of turbo diesel cars. They can link up with the ECU via the car`s diagnostic socket and link a laptop directly to the original maps on the system. Once this happens the original map can be copied onto a software system and various constraints can be altered so that the engine can provide more power an increase in torque, or better fuel economy. Motorists might want to have the Diesel Tuning carried out to give the turbbo an additional boost.
